Sky adds The Cloud

Contining their expansion as an Internet Service Provider, satellite broadcaster BSkyB has just acquired the wi-fi hotspot service The Cloud.

The Cloud currently has around 5000 hotspots in the UK, and its expected that these will soon be available to Sky Broadband customers.

This announcement came in the same week as phone operator o2 announced the creation of its own wi-fi hotspot network, that will reportedly be available free at key venues. The service will also apparently also be free to non-o2 customers, possibly funded by text message advertising.
